Seminar with Warren McGregor

The XRB, in conjunction with the Centre for Governance, Accounting and Taxation Research at Victoria University of Wellington, is pleased to host a seminar by Professor Warren McGregor. The seminar topic is "My time at the IASB and challenges for the future - a conversation with Warren McGregor".

Warren was an inaugural member of the International Accounting Standard Board (IASB). During his 10 years at the IASB he directly participated in perhaps the most momentous change in financial reporting the world has seen. Warren will discuss some of the critical events that took place during this period, including the impact of some of the events on the people directly involved. He will also examine some of the challenges now facing the Board including bringing the USA, Japan and India into the IFRS family.

The seminar will also include a commentary by Kimberley Crook, Deputy Chair of the New Zealand Accounting Standards Board. Kimberley has held a number of senior standard setting positions, including at the IASB and the UK Accounting Standards Board, as well as in New Zealand. She is currently a partner and national leader of Financial Accounting Advisory Services for Ernst & Young.

The seminar details are as follows: Thursday 14 March 2013 from 4.30 - 6.00pm; Victoria University of Wellington, Lecture Theatre 2, Rutherford House, 23 Lambton Quay, Wellington.

The seminar is free but places are limited. Persons wishing to attend are requested to register with Vanessa Borg (vanessa.borg@vuw.ac.nz or telephone 04 463 5550) by Monday 11 March 2013.
