Despite our best efforts, some errors will be found in a textbook of this complexity where such frequent changes of regulations make the annual updating of this text a complex task.
Where such errors are discovered by us, or pointed out to us by users of the book, we will list them on this page so that everyone can be informed of any mistakes found.
- Page 117 - Non savings income Activity Feedback: part c) - second line should read (45,000 - 34,800)@40% not (40,000 - 34,800)@40% (NB answer is correct as given in the book already)
- Page 140 - Married couples' and civil parteners' tax reduction: an incorrect figure of £6,635 is listed as the maximum amount available to those over 65 in the middle of this paragraph. This should read £6,535.
- Page 259 - Short life assets example: In Activity Scully, the first WDV b/f date should read b/f @ 1.7.03 (not 1.7.02). Subsequent WDV b/f dates for each subsequent year are also one year out of date ie should, in order down the computation, read WDV b/f @ 1.7.04 (instead of 1.7.03), 1.7.05, 1.7.06, 1.7.06, 1.7.07 and 1.7.08.
- Page 324 - Research and development: The date these tax credits were extended to large companies should read April 2002 (not April 2004)
- Appendix B - March 2008 Budget: The first paragraph suggests that the announcement by the Chancellor to increase personal allowances for basic rate tax payers by £600 for 2008/09 came 'the day after' the Budget speech. It was in fact made on 14 May, 2008.
No others errors have been discovered in this edition of the book - do let us know if you find any not listed above.
